In the first edition of “know your climate investor” series, we are delighted to have Akshay Gupta from Kotak Investment Advisors Limited (KIAL). Akshay has been working with KIAL for the past 11 years and specializes in financing infrastructure assets. About the fund
Kotak Investment Advisors Limited (KIAL), a subsidiary of Kotak Mahindra Bank (Kotak), focuses on managing Alternate Assets. KIAL was set up in early 2005 to bring a sharper focus to Kotak group’s alternate assets practice and has raised/managed/advised in aggregate over USD 5 billion across different asset classes including Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Special Situations, Listed Strategies and Investment Advisory, all led by independent investment teams.
Sectors of interest
It is actively looking at investments in both clean energy and electric mobility. Within e-mobility, KIAL remains excited about EV charging infrastructure and EV as a service model (commercial as well as public transportation).

Series A and beyond, interested in leading the rounds as well as in co-investment opportunities.
Existing portfolio companies
KIAL advises an infrastructure fund that has invested in two solar power generation platforms. The two platforms together have a portfolio of 13 projects in the renewable energy sector with an aggregate capacity of ~680 MWp.
